Suddenlink Communications was a telecom company, based in Missouri. Owned by Altice USA, it specialized in high-speed cable broadband, the ISP was known for its network coverage and cutting-edge internet technology that was delivering fiber optic internet to more than 500 ZIP codes in select regions! However, in comparison to Suddenlink, Optimum has a considerably smaller footprint, so it is worth a shot for digital users residing in the northeast to invest in the service. Even though, the provider easily ticks a lot of checkmarks, earning high marks for several reasons, what makes it a better option than other broadband providers in the region? Let’s find out.
The broadband provider underwent a rebranding process recently, according to which, from August 2022 onwards, Suddenlink will be known as Optimum to digital audiences across the country. While Optimum exists as a separate entity from Suddenlink, the parent company, Altice USA decided to unify its broadband services all across the 21 states where they serve. Hence the change. The important part is that Optimum is not just a broadband service that customers in New York or the tri-state region (that consists of Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York) are familiar with. But Altice USA hopes to introduce Optimum as a service provider within the western and the southern areas of the country as well. With Suddenlink officially renamed, the integrated brand also unveiled its new campaign with the tagline, “Get closer and go farther,” in the hope to create strong buzz among American audiences!
But that’s not all. While Altice highlighted that the change in the brand name is one modification, so far no further revisions are expected to be noticed in service prices, internet speed tiers, or customer account numbers. Nonetheless, the one change that Suddenlink audiences will deeply appreciate is that the broadband service provider will no longer come with any data caps or any kind of overage fees on all service plans. Moreover, while Altice’s service footprint is the vast hybrid fiber-cable network, the plan is to further expand the pure fiber network that is estimated to hold around 100,000 subscribers within the tri-state area only and is accessible to around 1.6 million households in general.
The change was expected for a long time since Suddenlink’s performance was declining in comparison to other cable providers in the area. According to the recent American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) report, Suddenlink did not score well and came last among other broadband providers in the Americans’ Happiness Level with their ISP. Even though Altice USA’s other ISP brand, Optimum was also below average as per industry standards, it still fared better than Suddenlink. Furthermore, Optimum is so far also going strong with its other product, Optimum Mobile, which is currently ranked as one of the top contenders for virtual network operators for mobile service in the ACSI list. By August 2022, Suddenlink will have officially become a part of Optimum.
While the move comes after much deliberation, it’s great for these two brands to consolidate and align their mission, vision, products, and services together. It is also imperative to note that existing Optimum customers shouldn’t expect many service changes at their end. Nonetheless, this rebranding will allow Optimum to penetrate newer regions, including at least 17 West coast and southern states of the U.S.
This is one broadband provider that comes with zero gimmicks involved! With the finalization of the rebranding process in the next few months, Optimum will take over Suddenlink’s infrastructure, which includes the network revamp via the new DOCSIS 3.0 tech and one of the country’s reliable Wi-Fi hotspot networks. Furthermore, the option for unlimited data allowance that came with Suddenlink will be reiterated for coverage areas that fall under Optimum and are enjoyed by their dedicated customers too!
They will no longer need to suffer from constant anxiety about data running out or being overcharged with overage fees for the unlimited data lets one enjoy all kinds of data activity without a worry in the world. What’s more, the no-contract clause with Optimum ensures that customers should stay on their own and not be bound by any rigid clauses. That’s the kind of strong, unwavering belief the ISP wants the target audience to have over its service quality.
